The Chatroom is probably the best place to be to get some great hints and tips when they are live trading, but please do remember to post you experiences in the forum as not everyone like's a live chat environment and many are happier posting in the forum so you will also get some great Nuggets of info out of there (Please note I don't mean the Nuggets)

I'm a businessowner who bets and trades on sport as a hobby.

I like thinking about it, testing out new strategies, come up with connections between markets and even different websites and lately I've developed an obsession for botting.

My bankroll strategy is that I grind it to an acceptable level through US horse racing trading and then start doing stuff I enjoy but are bad at until it becomes too low for comfort and I grind it up again. The last time I deposited money to a gambling site (poker at the time) was 2004 and I played with profits since.

So although I'm certainly not even remotely close to selling my business and going pro (not an ambition either) it's the cheapest hobby I've ever had!

Some might know me from RT, TT and some other forums I weed through every now and again and I'm looking forward to getting to know the ones I haven't met yet!

I think it was 2 years ago when I discovered Betfair. I tried some football systems and made a little profit.
I joined to the members area to learn the basics of tennis trading.

I agree that you have made the right choice between gambling and trading. One word of caution. Don't run before you can walk. Stick to small stakes until you have experienced many many markets and situations.

The last thing you want to be doing is to be having to work out what to do next as a trade is going against you.

Once the stats become second nature and you know the markets inside out you can use bigger stakes which makes the profits seem more worthwhile.

I'm new on here, but have been attempting to start trading tennis for a while now. Here is my brief history:

Started with risk-free profits by signing up with all the bookies to pocket their bonuses. That is how I first got onto Betfair by using it to lay the bets to offset the bookies bets. I made over £700 doing this, which is the money I have been using to trade tennis.

I was doing okay with tennis, but I just wasn't getting it. I considered buying 'Tennis Trading League' but then discovered Tradeshark which seemed like much better value for money, plus also features forums and the blog which seemed useful. I read all the strategies and felt comfortable, but realised I had more of a betting mindset than a trading mindset.

Up until recently I had a tendency to back the favourite and then chase my losses. Then a week ago I lost nearly £400 when a bet went bad, so realised I had to change something.

I started from scratch again, using the principles here, mainly 15-40 and backing the favourite and then laying him off. The hardest thing for me to get was hedging to get profit on both outcomes. At first it seemed daft to give up some profit on the favourite to hedge both. Then Sunday night I had £40 profit on Murray and £0 on Querrey, I went to bed thinking Murray was a sure thing, and of course Murray lost so I got £0. At least I didn't lose anything though!

So that was the final straw that broke the camel's back. Yesterday I did some trades - some at lunch at work and the rest after work and made £99. I think I really get it now. I'm trading and not betting! Anyway, we all learn in our own way, and this is my sllghtly rounadbout journey into trading.

£2.50 stakes it is then. If only betfair was working and I was able to deposit some money!!

I am going to cut my teeth on the 00-40, 15-40 system to start with as this has definate entry and exit points and should give me an idea how the Toy software works. Not used this before but have used something similar when trading on the horses, I think it was Bet Trader Pro but it was a while ago.

Definately agre with kmabet on the stake size. It atakes time to get to kow how the market  will react in various situations and having a small amount of your own cash in  the market certainly focusses the mind.

You'll find  a lot of useful info posted by new guys as things have started to fall into place from them. Also being in the chatroom during matches will be useful as there's lots of great info passed around. We allso have a laugh!

Only difference is that when you're in play in a tennis market, a bet takes 5 seconds to place.

If you're using £2 stakes, sometimes when you hedge, the offset bet will be below £2. This requires 3 bets to be placed by the software which takes 15 seconds.

Therefore highly increasing your risk of not getting matched by 3 times and exposing you to the market 3 times as long also.

Small bit of advice but very useful when you're small staking like this.

I was wondering what sort of bank everybody started with as I am new to tennis trading (try the GG's once) and was going to start with very small stakes £2 - £5 ish.

I am not a gambler so trading should fit my mindset.

I have made the perfect start in finding this forum and purchasing TradeSharks guide. Also big thank you to Tytteboevs who diarys make a great read and contain a wealth of useful information.

NO answers or posts are seen as ridiculous here. We were all new at this once and you never stop learning.  Trust me, that wasn't even close to a scream

I can imagine how difficult it is to use a forum/chat where it isn't in my first language. Not sure I could do it.

Anyway it sounds like your 2 year plan is realistic if you stick with it. Don't increase stakes too quickly and your confidence will grow steadily. the biggest thing that will knock you back will be big losses while you learn.

I'm sure you'll get all the help you need from the people on here, myself included.
